Grade 5: Dress for success, appropriate for weather!
POETRY WORKSHOP: The Grade 4/5 students in Room 204 will be participating in a two-day workshop with Spoken Word poet Tanya Neumeyer. During this two-day workshop students will be engaging in writing poetry, using elements of poetry, performing and learning about the art of spoken word poetry.

February 15th and 23rd will be our workshop dates. Funds: each student will need to bring in $16 by Friday February 2nd.
ART/STEM: students will be creating a scale model (15 cm x 15 cm) of their design of a Public Art installation. TASK: Generate 3 sketches (refer to the constraints below) and respond to any 3 questions on “The Value of Public Space” located in Google Classroom.
MATH: Data Management: looking at various types of graphs for graphing information; graphing our bowling scores Part C analyzing our Class Total bowling scores Stem & Leaf Plot or Bar Graph. Reminder to keep referring to your success criteria and peer support.
WRITING: students writers are wrapping up their first draft, students will be providing/receiving peer feedback on their stories. This week students will write their final draft of their mystery story, discussions ongoing based on setup of writers workshop.
HEALTH: In response to the "Big Idea" and student generated inquiry questions; students will be provided a copy of their online work to write a short magazine article (Google Classroom). Oral feedback has been provided for each student; beginning to apply feedback and bump up into our second draft

- investigating ways in which light and sound are produced, transmitted and received
- exploring/experiments with inventions related to light and sound
- applying your knowledge of light and sound to the real-life situations

How might understanding organ functions and their interrelationships to organ systems as components of a larger system (the body) impact the choices we make to our overall health?
