DRESS FOR SUCCESS TOMORROW: we will be outdoors for most of the day! Layers, winter coats, snow pants, gloves and boots. 
Global School Play Day on February 7th: I am putting out a request for a few items that families may be able to donate to our class for http://www.globalschoolplayday.com/ and school community for OPAL being introduced to our students. This is part of promoting and providing opportunities for our students to engage in unstructured outdoor play. A formal request will be sent out by our school soon BUT I need a few things for my class as we explore and reflect on this learning experience. We are starting small and anything that can be shared is very much appreciated. 
ITEMS include:
Large Wooden Spool (4), Large Buckets, Small Plastic Shovels for collecting snow into a bucket
Car Tires (already being donated & so excited!)
Plastic Plumbing Pipes (clean & unused) of various sizes
Milk Crates (6)

Pancake Treat Day is on Friday February 9th (forms + $5 due by Thursday). Spirit Day too, so wear Canada Themed or Red and White!

POETRY WORKSHOP: The Grade 4/5 students in Room 204 will be participating in a two-day workshop with Spoken Word poet Tanya Neumeyer.  During this two-day workshop students will be engaging in writing poetry, using elements of poetry, performing and learning about the art of spoken word poetry. 
February 15th and 23rd will be our workshop dates. Funds: each student will need to bring in $16 PAST DUE.

Field Trip form sent home: A Different Booklist Book Store, author & activities honouring Black History Month, and throughout the year Funds: $7

MATH: Data Management: Bowling Project: students have created three different graphs, completed number sentences finding the averages (Mean / Median / Mode / Range) and responded to questions analyzing the data. Next, peer feedback will be provided based on the Success Criteria. Then, students will use Google Sheets to graph data and use feedback to bump up their analysis.

WRITING: As revisions are finalized, stories will be uploads into BookTrack creating ebooks with a soundtrack.

SCIENCE: beginning whole grade initial research located in Google Classroom prior to smaller group tasks
Grade 4 focussing on Light and Sound organizing experiments
Grade 5 focussing on Human Organ Systems planning and building models

Business Day: Interview Questions planning responses in preparation for 3-Step Interviews later this week
